Studio Bio

Studio Bio was a third year project where we partnered with Edinburgh Science Festival to explore themes of sustainability, biomaterials and climate change.

The project's aim was to costume for a dance production, loosely inspired by the Triadic Ballet, whilst using only sustainable/natural materials.

I explored the effects of climate change on fungi and the possibilities of genetic mutations amongst some species that could cause a rise in fungal diseases.

The base layer of my costume is made from upcycled bedsheets which have been dyed with coffee. The remaining materials covering the dress and the hat range from natural fibres such as hemp cotton, nettle, coconut malai and bark cloth, and upcycled, second-hand fabrics.
